Dollie Fortenberry McDonald Scholarship

Dollie Fortenberry McDonald was a beloved housemother at the Jane Brooks School for the Deaf for several decades.

Phillip and Kay Neill Wint have established two new scholarships at USAO for the 2011-12 term, one in the name of William Neill and the other in honor of Dollie Fortenberry McDonald.

The Dollie Fortenberry McDonald Scholarship was founded in honor of her grandmother, who was a beloved housemother at the Jane Brooks School for the Deaf for several decades. Both scholarships are designed to aid students who have struggled in secondary schooling but can demonstrate that they have the initiative for a successful college experience.

The Fortenberry McDonald award is specific to juniors and seniors in the deaf education program. Recipients will receive an award that completely covers the cost of attending USAO for one year but must meet several requirements, including living on campus, participating in clubs and holding a part-time job in order to remain eligible.
