Students Reach Out, Strengthen Alumni Bonds

Several OCW, OCLA and USAO alumni received a call from the college in the spring and summer of 2011. That call may have been from one of the members of the Student Advancement Team at USAO. The SAT was formed to boost alumni giving to the university. Four students worked the Call Center tirelessly over the course of the trimester to raise more than $11,000 from 145 donors.

“In addition to donations, the Call Center and the SAT give us a chance to connect students to alumni and to reconnect alumni to the university,” said Eric Feuerborn, director of Alumni Development at USAO. “It also is a practical way to update contact information for our alumni and to remove out of date information from our database.”

“The SAT enables students to build relationships using multiple forms of communication to secure annual scholarship gifts. We really want the students and the alumni to talk – to get to know each other. Both groups have a lot to share with each other. The SAT is just another way to connect the two groups,” Feuerborn said.

Plans are underway for the SAT in the fall and spring. “Our goal is to operate for 12 weeks with three callers. We have already received a lot of applications for SAT members. Our students understand the importance of scholarship dollars and want to help build relationships with our alumni. We can’t call everyone in our database, but we are going to call as many as we can.”

In addition to the SAT, alumni and friends of the university can give online at Alumni who would like to update their alumni database profile can go to the online directory at click on ‘Online Alumni Directory.’
