USAO Homecoming 2011 "Giving Back"

It's time for alumni from the Oklahoma College for Women, Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts and the University of Science and Arts to return to campus for Alumni Homcoming Nov. 3-6. Join your friends, classmates and meet some new people at this time of fun and fellowship. You can register online, by phone or by mail. Registration is just $60 for the entire weekend if you pay before Oct. 1. After Oct. 1, the price goes up to $70. Thursday, November 3

10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Symposium on Africa -- Although this is not an official Homecoming event, it is a good opportunity for alumni to see the liberal arts in action. USAO's Dr. Stephen Kandeh presents the Symposium each year to discuss the impact Oklahoma and the United States has on Africa. Panelist are chosen for their knowledge of USA/African relations.

Friday, November 4

2-4 p.m.
Alumni Board Meeting
-- The USAO Alumni Association Board of Directors meets before each Homecoming to discuss last minute details and prepares for the annual meeting on Saturday. 

5 p.m.
Registration

6 p.m.
Scholarship Banquet -- The Green and Gold Scholarship Banquet honors USAO students with more than 80 alumni scholarships. In addition, Homecoming participants will have an opportunity to give to the Association Scholarship Fund.

8:30 p.m.
Singing on the Steps -- Stop by the steps of Troutt Hall and say 'hi' to Little Sir Echo. Join us for this tradition that dates back several years.

9 p.m.
Cup of Christmas Cheer
-- The Stevens Alumni House will be decorated for Christmas. Stop by, see the decorations and enjoy some Christmas spirit. Alum Ashley Hyde started an organization called The Art of Encouragement that collects Christmas cards to send to hospitalized American Veterans. Alumni are encouraged to bring Christmas cards to this event filled out to give to our veterans. We will also have cards available.

Afterglow
-- Good fun and fellowship with classmates poolside at the Chickasha Best Western.

 

Saturday, November 5

Memorabilia Displays
-- Alum JJ William Francais will be showing his collection of OCW/OCLA/USAO memorabilia. Lots of personal items from times gone by. Do you have memorabilia you would like to donate? Please bring it with you.

Class Photographs
-- Take lasting memories with you when you leave Homecoming. Take a photo with your classmates. We will have a professional photographer on hand to take photos of all the classes at Homecoming.

Noon
Hall of Fame Luncheon
-- We honor this year's recipients of the USAO Alumni Hall of Fame Award and Young Alumni Award.

2:30 p.m.
Class of 1961 Meeting
-- Happy 50th reunion -- class of 1961! The classmates join on their 50th reunion to catch up and share old memories.

3:30-5 p.m. 
Take Your Pick
Alumni House Tours
-- Have you seen the Stevens Alumni House? Now's your chance to see this work of art by alumni members.
BFA Senior Show -- Stop by the USAO Art Gallery in Davis Hall to see the current works of art by graduating USAO bachelor of fine arts students.
Bree's Diner Tour -- Remember Bree's across from Addams? It's been completely restored. Travel with us to the Muscle Car Ranch and share some stories with us.
Divisional Open Houses -- What's happening in the academic divisions at USAO? Stop by and find out what is new. A full list of open houses will be available during Homecoming.
Give Us Your Story Audio Capture -- We are working on an oral history project and need your stories. Tell us about your time here in Chickasha.
Leaving a Legacy Seminar -- What legacy do you wish to leave here at the college? USAO's Dr. Michael Nealeigh will discuss options on becoming part of the USAO Echo Society.
Nash Library Open House -- Great things are happening at Nash -- including a huge expansion project and lots of renovation. Check out the dream and get to know library staff.

5-7 p.m.
Sandwich Supper Theatre
-- Join us for a light dinner and great music presented by USAO students. Will be a fun way to end a busy day.

7:30-10 p.m.
80s, 90s and Beyond Social
-- Are you a graduate of the 1980s, 90s on the 2000s? Then join with other classmates for this time of casual fun.

9 p.m.
Afterglow -- 
Good fun and fellowship with classmates poolside at the Chickasha Best Western.

 

Sunday, November 6

9 a.m.
Memorial Service -- Join us in the Alumni Chapel as we say farewell to those who have passed since last year's Homecoming. If you know someone who who has passed, come and share some personal memories.
